Inventory, Assessment and Remediation of Anthropogenic Sources of Pollution in the Lower Danube Region of Ukraine, Romania and Republic of Moldova (MIS-ETC Code 995)
On November 3, 2015, in Chisinau, Environmental Pollution Prevention Office within the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Moldova organized the kick off conference to present the project "Inventory, assessment and remediation of anthropogenic sources of pollution in the Lower Danube region of Ukraine, Romania and Republic of Moldova "( MIS ETC 995) implemented with the support of the Joint Operational Programme Romania-Ukraine- Republic of Moldova (2007-2013).
The objective of the project "Inventory, assessment and remediation of anthropogenic sources of pollution in the Lower Danube region of Ukraine, Romania and republic of Moldova" (MIS ETC 995) implemented by the consortium guided by the state Department of Environmental Protection in Odessa with financial support of Joint Operational Programme Romania – Ukraine- Republic of Moldova - (EUR = 5.81954 million project budget UAH 86,671,573.13) is to reduce the environmental impact of chemical storages and discharges of sewage into the Lower Danube region and increasing capacity monitoring soil and water, including extensive information to main stakeholders. One of the priority activities of the Project for Moldova is to develop prerequisites for establishment of of hazardous waste management center provided by Government Decision no. 973 of 18.10.2010 "On approval of the national program for sound management of chemicals in Moldova".
The conference will gather representatives of the seven project partners, the donor community, Program Regional Office, the central public authorities and economic operators will aim to establish lines of action in order to ensure that cross-border cooperation to protect the Danube River.
