Seminar «Risks and threats from pollution sources (on the example of the Lower Danube region)»

On May 29, 2015 in the city Vylkove there was held the seminar " Risks and threats from pollution sources (on the example of the Lower Danube region)", organized in the framework of the large-scale project “Inventory, Assessment and Remediation of Anthropogenic Sources of Pollution in the Lower Danube Region of Ukraine, Romania and Republic of Moldova”, MIS-ETC 995 within the Joint Operational Programme Romania-Ukraine-Republic of Moldova 2007-2013, which is funded by the European Union through the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument and co-financed by the participating countries in the programme.

Scientific and methodological support of seminar was made by Institute of market and economic&ecological research of NAS of Ukraine.
The aim of the event was to discuss the current state of pollution in the Lower Danube region, identify environmental risks and existing threats, and conduct a public discussion on the development of risk-management plan of territory as guaranteeing socio-ecological and economic security for its development and promotion of tourist image.
Whereas the Odessa region is part of the Ukrainian area of the Danube region has well developed relationships with other regions of the Danube basin and is a member of interregional organizations, involved in the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, the event would enhance the level of cross-border cooperation in the vector of identifying the ways toward leveling the environmental threats.
